Home from China

Seven months ago we were arriving back home from China with our beautiful eleven month old baby daughter in our arms. The child God chose for us and us for her. Still feeling surreal, we had waited for so long. Now the next chapter of our lives begin.



To back track a little, Eddie and I were married on February 14th, 1994 and after many years of praying and wanting a child, God chose to bless us with a baby daughter on December 24, 2006. Oh my, what a Christmas!!!

Our adoption process started early in 2005 and by July 15th our dossier was completed and on its way to China to be logged in with the CCAA. Our log in date was August 11, 2005 and after waiting and waiting our time finally came. We knew that in the next batch of referrals sent to our agency (Children's Hope International) from the CCAA in China, ours would be in it. We would finally get Eden's referral picture and some information about her. On November 2, 2006 CHI called us saying "Congratulations!!, You have a beautiful daughter!!" Her Chinese name is Feng, Lian Er. CHI overnights our referral package to us, receiving it on November 3, 2006, that is the day we saw her precious face for the first time. We overnighted the appropriate papers back to CHI so they could send them to China. Then we were waiting again (just a couple of weeks this time) to receive our travel approval from the CCAA in China. Upon receiving our travel approval, CHI could schedule all of our appointments for us. We started traveling on December 21, 2006, arriving in China on the 22nd. Our daughter was placed in our arms on December 24, 2006 around 4:30pm. God blessed us with this child and we were so grateful that we could celebrate her first Christmas with her, all together, our forever family. Our time in China went so fast and was amazing!!! God placed us with other wonderful families to share this special moment and time with and He knew that we would be in good hands and well taken care of from the time we landed in China to the day we boarded the airplane to return home when he placed us with our agency, Children's Hope International. After finishing other appointments and finalizing Eden's adoption we were able to come home on January 5, 2007. It was so good to see family awaiting our arrival at the Louisville airport to see the newest family member.

Eden is doing wonderful and has adjusted so well with everything. She is a little social bug and loves being around others. She started walking a month to the day after getting home. She loves Tallie Anne, our twelve year old furry family member. She understands everything and can say many words. She is a very happy and very loving baby.

We are still just amazed that this is our little girl and are wanting to be wonderful parents too her.
