September 2009 --- Family Vacation

I have posted several pictures here on the blog but if you are ever on facebook, look me up under Gina Goff Bradshaw, once we become "friends" you can see lots of pictures of our wonderful Florida vacation. We first started with a weekend in Orlando, FL. On Saturday we visited Disney's Magic Kingdom and on Sunday we met up with some of our China family and forever friends, the Morley family in Downtown Disney before heading over to Daytona Beach for a week. We had so many highlights on this trip!!!!!!! Everyday was wonderful!!!

Eden started a new dance class in July. We were getting ready to leave to attend her first class in these pictures. The class consist of a little ballet/tap/gymnastics. She is really enjoying it but for whatever reason she still wants me to be in the room with her. All I do is stand there, but when we enter the studio she runs to her classroom and upon entering the door she will look back at me and say, "Come on Momma, come with me.", I'm always standing in the lobby and tell her, " You are a big girl, go on and Momma will be in the lobby waiting for you.", but that doesn't seem to be working. I know one day out of the blue she will say, "I'm going in by myself today", so for now, I'm not going to stress over it......

Look.....she already has the jazz hands down! HAHA!

We completed two sticker charts in May and June. Eden had a blast doing this. Each day she could earn a sticker for the following....
Picking up her Toys
Brushing her teeth
Sharing
Obeying her parents
Going to bed on time
Eating well
Being polite

...and if she earned all of those stickers daily, then she received a small reward at the end of each week. Out of the eight weekly charts, she completed six of them without having any of her stickers taken away. This was the first time that we had done this. I thought it worked pretty well and she would say at different times, " Oh, I better do this or that or I will not earn my sticker tonight." I will be doing this again in the future for sure.

Below was her reaction when I told her "maybe" next time we do this she could earn an allowance. Even at 3yrs of age she understood that this meant "money". I couldn't help but laugh at/with her. Her reaction was too cute and I'm glad I caught it thru this picture.

Bible School was also in June. In this picture we were leaving to go there.

Eden really enjoyed attending Bible School this year, everything about it!! Her class started off with "supper/dinner" before heading to all of the other planned activities and classes and I enjoyed helping out in the nursery. (I love this picture of her!)

Father's Day 2009 --- Not for sure why I didn't get a picture of Eden giving her Daddy his gift????????or did I????? Anyway, we had bought a T-shirt for him that said, "World Greatest Daddy Hands Down" and Eden got to use paint and made her hand prints on it and also added with the paint by writing with her fingers XOXO Love, Eden. ( I did hold her wrist to steady her hand for her.) It turned out good and she had fun doing it. After church I did snap these pics of Eddie and Eden.

Also in June, we traveled to Louisville to take Tallie (our furry family member) to see a Vet Specialist. We were getting ready to leave early that morning in this picture.

Arriving....

Around 3:00 that afternoon we found out that Tallie would need to stay the night there. They still needed to do the MRI and other procedures that were planned and at that time the doctor would be calling us with the results and we would need to decide (following the info that he gave us) if we wanted to go ahead with a surgical procedure. Eddie, Eden, and I also ended up finding and staying at a hotel. We made a Wal-Mart stop before picking up some supper and taking it back to our room, waiting to hear from Tallie's doctor. After waiting, eating dinner, playing UNO and waiting some more we finally got the call. In the end, we decided, no to surgery. The chances of it helping Tallie was only 50-60 percent and the risk of her being left paralyzed were greater. No tumor was found (GREAT NEWS), but she has a rupture vertebra (top area) with mild nerve damage. Also at the lower area of her back/bottom she has nerve root damage which is the cause of several of her recent and continuing problems. They really couldn't explain the cause of this. After returning home the next day, Eddie and Eden (with her Handy Manny tools) built Tallie a ramp off of the back porch so she will not have to use the steps, hoping this will be easier on her. It did take Tallie a few days before she would start using it. You can teach an old dog new tricks! ha! We have also started Tallie on a mild pain medication to help with any discomfort she may be feeling. We think this is helping her. She just seems to be feeling better and a little more frisky. Our Tallie Anne will be 15 yrs old on December 1st and she is a BIG part of our family.

Miss Cassie's Wedding -- May 23, 2009

We had the pleasure of attending Cassie and Harley's wedding this Saturday. (Cassie is our cousin, but to Eden she is Miss Cassie --- gymnastics teacher. Eden's gymnastic class ended in February, we haven't started attending a new class yet but do have plans too.) What a beautiful day for a wedding out in the country. And, Cassie looked AMAZING!

After Cassie left our table to greet others, I noticed Eden was still looking and in awe of her (Cassie) so I asked....Sweetie, what are you starring at? She answered, "Miss Cassie Mommy---------She is beautiful. She looks like a princess." The whole time still not taking her eyes off of Cassie. It melted my heart! Of course I had to agree with her, Cassie is a very beautiful girl inside and out and she made a lovely bride.

We went outside today to plant flowers in our flower pots, but I asked Eden if she would like to wash off her old beach toys while I started on the flowers and she was thrilled to do that.........(this meant getting to play/use the water hose)........................ ......So, when I brought out the "Dawn" soap for her to use the excitement raised to an even higher level! When I look at this picture I can hear all of that happiness!!!! I love it!!!

Fun, Fun, Fun!!!!!! After playing, she was a great helper, by watering the flowers I had just planted. This involved using the water hose so she was up for the job. Ha Ha!

We took a walk this morning and when we turned unto the road to visit our animal friends, as you can see, they seen us coming and all headed to the fence to say Hello and I'm sure were hoping we had brought a snack along with us. We didn't disappoint them. When Eden seen this picture she started laughing and said, "Momma, that's funny! They are trying to hide from us!"
I was thinking the same thing. Ha Ha!

Later in the evening I gave Eden a little something that I had picked up for her. I thought she might enjoy doing/planting her own tomato plant.

So, we'll see if it will grow. Will keep you updated. Also, Eden did have on clothes (shorts and top) today, even though in all of these pictures she is in her pjs and a gown. She loves changing her clothes lots and lots of times during the day.

The following video I wanted to share. Let me explain a little first. Yesterday we had taken a walk to see the animals and afterward I told Eden that we needed to go back home the short way......that I needed to use the bathroom. Today, while visiting the animals, out of the blue she came up to me (full force), grabbed me (in the crotch area) and said, " Do you need to pee today, Mommy?", I told her NO (and to not grab me like that and in that area of the body). She said, "Good, today we can walk the long way home." ------------ At the end of this video she mentions taking the long way home again..........

MOTHER'S DAY

My beautiful baby girl and wonderful husband made this day so very special, but then again they are all special because God has blessed me with my precious daughter, Eden (and also my (own) wonderful mother.....I love you, Mom!).......... Eden, when you read this one day, never forget, you didn't grow under my heart but in it. I love you SO very much, from my heart all the way to heaven and back down into your little bitty heart, forever and always!!!!

We didn't get any pictures before going to church, but were able to get a few later in the afternoon at my parents house.

I had to take my Mother's Day (music/message) card to show it off to everyone. I will try to get it on video of the message that Eden recorded for me saying Happy Mother's Day and even Tallie barked once and you can also hear Eddie's voice (where he is instructing Eden on what to do) if you listen real close, so all of my loves are on it.

After church we first stopped by Granny's.............

.....then onto Meme & Pappy's house. In Sunday School that morning one of the projects the kids worked on and gave to their Moms was a small cup with a big ribbon around it filled with different kinds of hard candies. Eden was so excited when giving me this after Sunday school, but as soon as she handed it to me she asked for it back and started picking out the peppermint candies, then she gave me the cup back and said (with the sweetest smile on her face), "I took these out because Pappy likes this kind of candy, so I'll give these to him today". I just had to laugh and say o.k. that will be good. ------- Later that afternoon when we got to my parent's house that was the first thing she said to him, "Here Pappy, these are for you, Happy Mother's Day!!" Of course it melted my Dad's heart that Eden wanted him to have a gift also. Too bad I didn't get that on video.

Not until downloading my pictures did I realize that I didn't get a picture of me with my mom or the three of us (mom, Eden and me) together this year. But, I did have a couple of Mom and Eden. One of Eden giving her her flower and this one below. Eden was still trying to wake up but I still thought it was sweet.

With such beautiful weather on this day, we all wanted to be outside. Eddie and I had our "one" job each, while our super-girl Eden multi-tasked. She first started off with her "job" of washing the stroller and boy did she have a lot of fun doing this.

Then she was off to help her Daddy wash the car.....

and after that she watered the flowers I had just planted. She is the best "big" helper ever!!!!!

Eden finally got "up close" with some friends that we see often when we go for a walk. She met a Shetland pony named Star Dancer and a Jenny mule named Jenny May. They both were really gentle and we also found out that it would be o.k. for us to bring them a snack from time to time. So, we have been back often and they LOVE seeing us come.

Easter Weekend

Saturday evening before Easter, Eden enjoyed dying eggs.

Earlier that Saturday, Eden's grandparents invited her to come to their church in Somerset for an Easter "social/gathering". The children watched a short movie they had a snack and then it was time to hunt eggs.

First Part of April 2009 Update

Eden, along with her Meme and Me (Mommy) made a day trip to Lexington in early April. We stopped by the Fayette Mall before coming home and Eden was able to "get some exercise" in the fun area. ( I posted a video below).

I love telling Eden (and Tallie) that Daddy is home from work....this is how he is greeted before even entering the house............DADDY'S HOME!!!! DADDY'S HOME!!!!!! How sweet! I know it melts his heart to see his girls waiting for him.

Eden ran into the kitchen and excitedly said, "Momma, I need a few things!!!! I'm going to the beach!!!!!................Come on Momma, do you want to go to the beach with me?" I posted a video of this below. You have got to check it out...... Notice all of the "things" she took to the beach (Two chairs --- one for her and one for Ellie, a game to play (it looks like an egg carton beside her chair) , a "beach" bag with books and snacks, and her flip flops). She also is the little actress, acting like she is relaxing in her chair. She will crack you up, it did us. This picture is where she is relaxing in her beach chair. And if you haven't guess it yet, her beach was only a short distanced away-------in her bedroom.

Eden "got" mail again. This time it was from Uncle Kevin, Aunt Tina and Shelby, a little something for Easter (card,candy & a book of stickers).

We enjoyed a visit from Ryan and Evan. Eden brought some of her "baby toys" out, (she came upon these toys a couple of months ago and ask who they belonged too. When I told her they were some of her baby toys and I was wanting to keep them she asked, "Why". So I explained because they were special, we had taken some of them to China for her to play with and showed her the ABC/123 blocks that Santa had given her, her first Christmas -- in China. She started smiling and said, "Mommy, I was playing with them and we have pictures." She was right..so we then went and looked at our pictures taken while in China. So now these are "special" little toys to her.) so, she wanted to share them with Evan. She is a thoughtful little girl. He liked them a lot and that made her happy. She then said she just had to hold him in her lap. Evan is almost bigger then she, so this was funny, but I thought the picture turned out cute. Is this not the sweetest! Look at those smiles! (Eddie is holding one of the blocks Eden received on her from Christmas from Santa.)

Eden made Yogurt Pops from a recipe in one of her Highlights magazines. She chose to make Blueberry. We also went through all of her spring and summer clothes to see what she was still going to be able to wear,......spring is here. She cooperated very well since it did take awhile to complete this task. But we had fun with it and by the end she was striking a pose (she did this on her own) and was cracking me up. I've got to try to get a picture of her doing that. And, also as you can see with the pjs she has on.......she is ready for warmer weather.

Special Things From Eden

These two special items I wanted to (finally) share with everyone. The drawing in her right hand was made for Eddie and me on November 17, 2008. This was our "first" weekend away (Eddie and me) from Eden since returning home from China (Jan. 2007). Though she adjusted to Eddie's work schedule (him being away four days out of the week driving for Wal-Mart transportation) very well, she never has spent the night with anyone without Mommy & Daddy........... She did try on Memorial Day weekend 2008. My parents were over and asked her to go home with them, we (Eddie and I and probably them too) expected her to say No like she had said before when asked. They had only asked her a few times before, but this time she said Yes! She even went and got her bag with her baby and some other things in it. When she got in the car to go I tried to smile and be upbeat even though my heart was in my stomach. They left and Eddie and I didn't say a word for about 30 minutes (seriously), still stunned that she went. It was late when they left that night but within a couple of hours our phone rang......"She's o.k. We are leaving now to bring her home" my mom was saying.... She wants to talk to you." She placed the phone up to Eden and she was heartbroken and said "Mommy, I'm coming home." When she arrived back home, at that moment we knew that unless it was an emergency she would not be spending the night with anyone (without us) for a while. It was still too soon for her (o.k. probably for us also. Ha ha!) So,........later that year (late Sept/early Oct 2008) I started talking to her and asking if she would like to have Meme and Pappy over to spend the night with "just" her? Mommy and Daddy might be going out of town and instead of her going to their house "she" could have them over to "her" house to help "her" take care of Tallie and her, Meme and Pappy could sleep in Mommy and Daddy's bed, and they could play with "her toys" and maybe do, go or make some other special plans of things to do while we were out of town, but we would still be able to talk on the phone like when Daddy is away at work. SHE THOUGHT THIS WAS A GREAT PLAN!!!!!!! She/We talked about it often for about a month and when the time came I knew she would be just fine and she was! She spent the day in Somerset and that evening they came back home and Eden done great!!!!! So the drawing in her right hand is of Daddy, Mommy, Eden and Tallie (Meme did help with this and the other project too.) She gave it to us when we returned home. I will cherish it forever!
And the one in her left hand was our 2009 Valentine card that she cut out (two hearts) and painted one day while at Meme and Pappy's house. The cute/funny thing about the Valentine card is she brought it home and told me that it was a secret and she was suppose to hide it until Valentines Day then she would give it to Daddy and me. It was hard not to laugh, so I just encouraged her to go hide it. Of course I was watching her when she went into her bedroom, went to her bed and lifted up the bedding and then lifted up her mattress cover sheet and placed the envelope on the side of her mattress and then covered it back up with the mattress cover sheet. I still can't believe I didn't start laughing out loud! She was working so hard and it turns out that she did a pretty good job because it stayed there and didn't bend up or anything. On Valentines Day, Meme reminded Eden to give it to us. She didn't get it until it was time for bed. I guess that is when she remembered, but she was so so so proud of it and it is beautiful and special to us!

DISNEY ON ICE --- March 13, 2009

Back on Friday the 13th of March, Eden, her Meme and Me traveled to Lexington to see Mickey, Minnie and friends (Disney on Ice) at Rupp Arena. We all loved it and plan on trying to attend the next time they come back to perform in our area. Eden done really well and was amazed at all of it. She loves the princesses but we had only read the stories (most of them) up until this point, but that has now changed. She is all into the movies now, so it's not just the Disney Cars movie anymore.

Eden's Meme and Pappy gave her the Cinderella DVD for Easter and like her Cars DVD, we have watched it often. She sings the songs and it is so sweet. Talking about the music in the movies, she loves the songs in the Disney Cars movie so much that her Daddy made (downloaded) her a CD with all of the music. She loves it is an understatement! It is in our car and that is the first thing out of her mouth once we get in and go, "Mommy (or Daddy) can you please put in my Cars CD and start it at the beginning?" But that is not it.....She can sing the songs very well!!!! She has her own title for every song also. Her title relates to when the song is played in the movie. Her favorite song is the Rascal Flatt's version of Life is a Highway (Her title for that song is "Mac driving Lighting to California). There is also songs my John Mayer, Sheryl Crow, Brad Paisley, etc (four or five are orchestra performances only). She (We) enjoy them all. I'm waiting for her to ask, "Daddy, can you make me a CD with Cinderella music, Little Mermaid music and Beauty and Beast Music for the car also?" (and after watching the other princess movies they will be added to the list, Ha! Ha!)

New Things -- March 6, 2009

So what does a little big girl want to do when she gets a couple of new items? ---To do a photo shoot with her new things.-------- After running a few errands we stopped by Wal-Mart before coming home, Eden got a couple of new items (not toys) --- a new orange (her favorite color) straw sippy cup and a pink stepping stool. She was so proud of her new things. I love that the small things make her over the moon. Will it stay this way????? I hope so. ha ha! I know this one blurred and the lighting isn't great but I still love it. I love that smile!

February Update -- Part I

Eden's dental surgery was on Feb. 3rd. Due to having a cavity behind her top two front teeth, she needed to get it filled and the two teeth capped.

We didn't say anything to Eden about what was going to happen until the day before. The procedure was going to be done at the surgery center so after telling her she had a dentist appointment the next day we also needed to tell her it would be at a different place. She would have said right off, "This isn't the dentist office" if we hadn't told her. I sat her on my lap and told her,........ " the dentist needs to fix your teeth but to do that you will have to go to sleep.....so to help you sleep they will give you a little medicine. Momma talked to the nurse today on the phone and Guess What???!!! She said you get to ride in a red wagon! Doesn't that sound fun!!!!???!!" Of course she loved that idea. I also let her know that Momma and Daddy would be there with her but we knew that she was going to be a very brave girl.

She done excellent!!!! She got to pick out a toy and a movie while waiting in the red wagon. A nurse brought a small cup of medicine and I was hoping and praying she would drink it all up just like she does (now) at home, but there were so many people around her now..... (When she had RSV (Jan 2008) that is when we had to hold, force, etc. oh, I don't like to think about then-----medicine was everywhere, she was screaming bloody murder, I just knew it was going to scar her little mind forever, but several months later when she needed to take some medicine she done a total three sixty and has done good ever since.) The nurse ask if I wanted to give her medicine to her and I did.......So, I bent down and said, "Hey brave girl, this is the medicine that will make you sleepy." Eden opened her mouth, drank & swallowed ALL of the medicine and looked at the nurse standing on the other side of her and said, " Now I need a drink to help it go down to my belly." THAT'S OUR GIRL!!!!! The nurse was so happy to give her "a little" drink and kept telling her what a big girl she was. It wasn't long before our little girl started getting a loopey and then it was time to take her into surgery. They were going to place the gas mask on her to put her under enough to put in the IV, etc. The anesthesiologist asked her if she would like to go for ride in her wagon and that was it, Eden was saying bye to us and taking in our kisses and hugs. ----- We should have asked for some of that medicine to help us....ha...... That was an awful, awful feeling watching her go into surgery. I would tell myself it was dental surgery..... but surgery is surgery and anything could happen.....what if she didn't do well with the anesthesia? But, saying that and feeling the pain in my heart (and stomach), I still found a peace down deep knowing that she was in God's hands. Thank you Lord !!!

Dr Brandi said that everything went well, it was good we didn't wait because the two teeth had gotten a lot worse----fast! (which we knew, but she talked like the teeth wouldn't have lasted but a couple of more months). Eden is also missing some teeth (which we already knew). Dr Brandi was able to get some more x-rays, they are also showing that Eden might be missing a few of her permanent teeth also (on the sides). We will deal with that when that time comes. The doc also commented on the ridges in Eden's teeth being really really deep for baby teeth in someone so young.

When Eden awoke she was NOT happy at all!!! Which was to be expected. This part was worse then going into surgery. She was doing the stiffened body, head thrown back, screaming MAD cry when we got to her. You could tell the nurse was having a hard time, but I immediately took her and once she felt, heard and seen her daddy and me she began to calm down. She would fall back to sleep for a minute or so and then awake crying that soft "Please, momma and daddy -- make the pain go away" cry. Our hearts were breaking. It wasn't long and she was released. After getting into the car she fell back asleep and slept all the way home.

A week or so later we had gone through snow, ice and a very bad wind storm. Eden asked to "help" Daddy before taking her nap. It had warmed up again (what strange weather we had in February). She is such a good "little" helper.

I love this picture! It's not so much the pic but what she was doing------running to me. I was on the phone and looked out the side door and decided to snap a few pics of my two loves. When she seen me she laid down her big push broom and came running to me SO excited and squealing. I had opened the door thinking she was coming in, but instead she wraps her arms around by legs and presses her whole body into me, squeezed my legs hard saying, " Mommy, I looooovvvvvvvee you! Isn't it such a beautiful (boo-tee-full) day? The sun is shining!!!!!" " I'm going back to the garage, Daddy might need my help. O.k. --- Bye Mommy!" -------- My heart just melted!!!!! I can't believe I captured this moment and her sweet, pure innocent excitement.

February Update --- Part II

In February, we had a pancake supper (really it was a late lunch) with a group of our good friends. All of the guys work together and are really good friends and the ladies all became fast friends too. With it being winter we had to move things inside and Chuck & Deb have a HUGE extra detached garage (Chuck's man cave, ha ha), it gave us more then enough room plus central heat & air so we were warm, and even a bathroom so we were all set. The guys cooked and it was delicious! Eden had a great time and she took along with her her tricycle, china baby, frog chair, her cars, car mat and cars books. We knew one family wouldn't be able to be there with their daughter Ashley, whom Eden had a wonderful time playing with last time, so we wanted to make sure she would have enough things to play with.
Chuck and Deb had a new Little People book for Eden also and she loved it and all of the attention that was lavished upon her! ha!
We can't wait for the next get together!

Yes, it snowed enough for Miss Eden to go out and enjoy it a little. Can you see the excitement in her little face. She was overjoyed!!! She kept saying, "I love winter!" I did get it on video, but still having trouble getting it on here. Will keep trying.
It was so cold we didn't stay out too long, but enough that she really enjoyed her first experience playing in the snow.

Our precious Tallie girl, as you can see on her left side, she had a tumor removed. The tests showed that it was benign. We are so thankful! Eden asked when Tallie and I returned from the vet's office from having her stitches removed, "But Mommy, why didn't the doctor put her hair back on to cover up that big spot?" Ha Ha!!

HAPPY CHINESE NEW YEAR!!!!!!! We were able to welcome in and celebrate the New Year "the year of the Ox" today. Before going to have dinner, we stopped by Wal-Mart for a few items and SO many people stopped us to say to Eden, "Oh, what a pretty outfit you have on." She would say, "This is my Happy Chinese New Year outfit that Mommy and Daddy got in China." She was cracking me up!! I had told her (probably three weeks ago) that we had this outfit made "just" for her when we were in China. We bought several outfits, all different sizes for Eden while there for her to have as she grew but, as of today this is the first one she is able to wear. One of the dresses also fits her now, so maybe she can wear it soon.
Once at the restaurant, the waitresses, like always, were so friendly and when one of them over heard me asking Eden if she could say Happy New Year in Chinese and Eden did very softly, she came running over, hugging Eden and saying "Xin Nian Kuai Le", "Right!, Right!" "Good, Good!". I did get a video of Eden saying it, but I'm having trouble getting in uploaded, so I'll keep trying. This first picture is actually after our meal when we were getting ready to leave the restaurant.

Also, I thought this was cute when we arrived at the restaurant Eden said to us, "We have been here before, we've been to this Happy Chinese New Year restaurant before. "

Oh, how I wish we would have one BIG snow this year (preferably on a weekend) ha. Eden is soooo wanting to play in the snow. I do remember last year it snowing enough one weekend that she would have been able to play in it, but unfortunately she was sick and wasn't able to enjoy it.
On this early morning, we were heading out to take Tallie to the vet. Eden was so excited about the snow and we were both hoping today would be the day we could play, build a snowman, make snow angels, throw snowballs............oh, how fun, but today was not the day. It was melted and gone not long after getting home. What little there was of it. Maybe next time Sweetie.

Yes, our girl sometimes has an attitude and on this particular Wednesday at gymnastics she had a BIG one. She was so ready to go and she was letting me and everyone else know all about it.......O.k we all have a bad day every now and then. This was one of hers. I was joking with her, asking if her new dance outfit was giving her an attitude. She was a REAL drama queen diva this morning.

Eden turned THREE on January 10th. We celebrated that evening just the three of us (Daddy, Mommy & the Birthday Girl) . A couple of days earlier that week my Mom (Eden's Meme) ask her if she, mommy and daddy were going to have a party when Daddy got home from work on her birthday. Eden first responded by saying, "yes", but then said "No Meme. Me, Mommy, Daddy and Jesus are going to have a birthday party". Just how sweet is that!!!!!!!!?????!!!!!!

Eden did choose her "birthday theme" ------Princesses------(even a small family celebration has to have a theme). It was between Princesses & Disney Cars, but the Princesses won out this time. We are waiting on getting a pinata, since it was just the three of us. I told her she could pick out one to take to the pancake supper that we, with a group of our friends are having in February. She was o.k. with that, so I'm wondering at that time which one she will choose. She LOVES, LOVES, LOVES, the Disney Cars movie!!!! She already had a set of Disney Cars books that she picked out after her trip to the dentist and she received a BIG Look & Find Disney Cars Book at Christmas from us. Santa even brought her a Handy Manny tool box and "the tools" along with her baby doll, doll house, etc., that was what she had asked for, so he had to deliver. Ha! She has gotten her own Cars movie from Meme & Pappy along with a little Lightin' McQueen car. What can I say???? She is very well rounded, ha ha and we couldn't feel more blessed to say that this Little Tomboy Princess is OUR Daughter!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY SWEETIE!!! WE LOVE YOU, OH SO VERY MUCH!!!!!!!!!

A Very Long Post & Happy New Year

At the end of this LONG POST you will see a picture of our Sweet Eden sleeping. Why, you ask?

Truth be told and I think I've told it before, she never slept in her crib very well, but at least she would start out in her crib after I would rock her to sleep and she had to be in a really good deep sleep or she would open those big beautiful almond shape eyes the minute she touched her mattress and then would start crying and grabbing me sooooo tight. If she did stay asleep once in her crib she would sleep until 1am - 2am and then start crying (screaming mostly) for us. I would rock her back to sleep (and a lot of times fall asleep myself in the rocker while holding her) and try again and sometimes again and again before she would lay back in her crib. This lasted for about six months then I just started taking her back to our bed so we both could get a little better rest. The same thing happened during nap time and when she would stay asleep when placing her in her crib her average nap time was 1 hour. She would go back to sleep and nap longer only if I held her. So I did do that a lot. I felt she needed that extra rest time since she wasn't resting well straight through the night and even getting her in her crib at night could take 30 minutes to 1 1/2 hours, you just didn't know what the night was going to bring. I will say this again, but this I feel was Eden's only real adjustment issue that was difficult for her.

So that takes us up to 2008 and once she got sick last January , I put her in our bed. That is where I (we) wanted her and where she needed to be. Our little girl was so ill. Of course once she was feeling well again that is where she wanted to "go" when it was bed time. That started another new routine. At (her) bed time she would lay down in (our) bed but the catch was---I had to go too. She would have "meltdowns" if I didn't. So, this is what I did because it worked. Down deep I was afraid by doing this, it was just going to be harder on her later, but I also knew what a strong, smart and determined little girl we have and she had (and still does) take all new situation head on and bulldozes through them. She is a very tough cookie! At this same time, I told her(in a very calm, upbeat and positive voice) I couldn't lay down with her during her nap time,( I wasn't even going to start this) so I would give her two options to choose from, "You lay in Mommy & Daddy's bed by yourself or on the couch." (and yes, I would always say something about her bed, but she didn't even consider that being an option. Even after we turned her crib into her day bed in the Spring of 2008.) She chose the couch and this is where she napped for the next six months or so. Changing the routine again, I told her we were starting something new and she needed to start taking her naps in Mommy's bed while I worked in the living room. She went with it and done really well. Of course she did need to have one of her movies playing. Eddie and I both would make a comment from time to time to her about sleeping in her big girl bed, but she wasn't having any part of it not even at nap time........UNTIL DECEMBER 22, 2008.

Eden had overheard us (Daddy and Mommy) talking months earlier that when "Eden did decide to sleep in her big girl bed that we might need to place a small TV in her room so she would be able to play one of her movies while falling asleep since this was the habit she was use too already." We know that our girl has a outstanding memory ( as her Daddy puts it) "like a steel trap", but were we surprised when on Monday, December 22, 2008 our princess announced, "I would sleep in my big girl bed in MY ROOM today if I had a TV in there to watch a movie". So what did her Daddy do?????? Yes, you got it, he fixed her right up and within 15 -20 minutes she was fast asleep. I just had to take a picture of her BIG accomplishment. Everyday since, she has taken her nap in her room and the past couple of weeks she has slept in her bed ALL night LONG. We are soooo very proud of her!!!!! Eddie has always said that she would just up and say " I'm going to my room to sleep tonight" and that would be it. That is pretty much how it happened.

I have said this before, but we didn't get many pictures that day so we were very excited when Ashley (another mom in our travel group, Thank you again Ashley!) attached this to an e-mail she sent earlier in the year. What a Big girl we have! She said she was going to sit on Santa's lap, give him a hug and her art project and boy did she ever, she ran to him!!!! Talking about excited!!!! We all were excited. Eddie and I were so very proud of our girl. Eden even got to see............................. FROSTY before going in to see Santa. When she seen Frosty she squealed!

Dental Appointment

Eden had another "First" this month, a dental appointment. She really done well. They couldn't believe she sat so still for them when they took the x-rays. But, I scheduled this appointment afraid they were going to confirm my fears after noticing a very (I really mean very very very)tiny "speck" on one tooth. We watched it for a couple of months but decided she needed to go on to the dentist now and yes they did confirm that it is a cavity. So, this "first" will have to be continued.
They had given her the sunglasses to wear. She is a Cool Cat!

After receiving a small (Wal-mart) sales catalog in the mail several weeks ago, we decided to make an "art project" out of it since Eden was SO excited and saying that she was going to ask Santa for this toy, and that toy and so on. She has cut several pictures out (pictured below) but we still need to finish this project. She plans on gluing them to construction paper and giving it to Santa when she goes to visit him this year. So we will post pics of the completed project later. Oh, and I thought her comment was cute when she was finished saying, "Mommy, I'm done now, I need to leave some toys for the other boys and girls." My heart melted!!!!! I told her that she was being very thoughtful and nice and I was proud of her for thinking of others. LOVE HER HEART!!!!!!

But, yesterday at church a lady sitting behind us asked Eden what she was going to ask Santa for this Christmas. Eden gave her a BIG smile and said EVERYTHING!!

Eden was a little under the weather, but she was still ready to bundle up (even though it was an exceptionally warm day) and dress up as Snow White for Halloween. Along with learning gymnastics and dance at her gymnastics class each week, Eden also gets to do an "art project" each month and her coach hangs every one's art on the wall. This month was decorating a pumpkin, no coloring allowed. Eden had a lot of fun and was very proud of her (our) finished project.

I wanted a picture of Eden wearing her shirt that Eddie brought home to her after work one day. It says Daddy's Girl on it. Eden was very happy with this surprise gift and decided she wanted to wear it "To go on vacation", she had said. So when we left for Hatteras Island, NC (Outer Banks) she was wearing her special shirt. After taking Tallie to Uncle Kevin & Aunt Tina's to spend her vacation, we stopped by Meme & Pappy's to give hugs and say Good-Bye. On this evening we stopped in Asheville, NC for the night. Tomorrow will be a long day traveling. She is telling me what her shirt says.

Our family can't go anywhere without finding a Wal-Mart store, ha ha! This was a good break for Eden, though she is a very good traveler. This was an all day travel day.

Even though we had taken Eden's beach toys with us to Hatteras Island, she spotted this dump truck at a small store the first night we arrived. She didn't get it that night but we were back in that same store the following night and told her she could get one thing, she went straight to the truck. She played with it every day.

Last Day At The Beach

Enjoying our last day on vacation, playing in the sand, finding shells in the ocean, watching Daddy catch a lot of fish, played some more, watched the seagulls, crabs and the big pelican. It was a GREAT day!! The whole vacation was just the BEST!!!

What a gorgeous day for an outing! We traveled to New Haven, Ky today to visit the Kentucky Railway Museum. Had a great, relaxing day! Eden & Baby enjoyed the train ride, as did Eddie and I.

After Eden's gymnastic class today we stopped by her Meme and Pappy's before going home. Mom had handed me a bag with a few small items in it she thought would work in Eden's vending machine bank for her rewards for going to the potty. Then she said, "Oh, just go ahead and give it to her now." ----- Now??!! Everything in the bag? So, Little Miss Eden made out like a fat rat, I'd say! A few of the items she received you will be able to notice in the pictures because she had to put everything on. Almost everything.
Yes, she got new underwear. Off with the pull-up and on with the panties, she had to put on her new Dora socks even though the temp was in the 90's, on went the Snoopy bandages and Momma even got one, lets not forget her beautiful heart princess bracelet, Dora hairbands and so on. Eden then had to ride her cousin Shelby's Barbie Jeep (she is twelve yrs old now---out grown the jeep). Uncle Kevin was so nice to think of Eden, that she could get some play time out of it. Enjoy seeing the many faces of Eden!

VBS with Granny Pam

Eden attended a one day VBS with her Granny Pam and cousin Robert. I did worry about her since she would probably miss her nap and with her only a week into potty training but she would be with Granny, I knew she would be taken good care of and Granny would call me if she needed to. VBS was from 10:00am to 4:00pm, Eden made it until 1:00pm. Eden fell asleep within a minute from leaving the church and didn't wake up when I carried her inside the house. Later on that afternoon she was telling me about her time at VBS, that she learned (in her words) about baby Moses in the basket in the water, that Granny took her picture of her holding her name tag, her art project that she poured and had to shake side to side and also she said, "Momma, I cry at vacation bible school." (of course I knew this since Robert had to call me to pick her up and also that was the first thing she had said to me when I picked her up) I asked, "Why sweetie, you where having fun?" She replied, "I cry for my Momma and Daddy", I want them and Momma, I have an accident at vacation bible school. Granny changed my pull-up." I had told her that that was o.k. if it happened. So after she said this to me I reassured her that it was o.k. that she did good at VBS and she might have some accidents but it was o.k. she was still doing so well with potty training. Her reply was "But Momma, I had two accidents. That's what started it Momma, that's why I started to cry for my Momma and Daddy." Of course it being her nap time come in to play also but still my heart broke and melted at the same time. All I could do was go to her and hold and hug her and I never wanted to let go.

This picture was taken on the first day of potty training. Eden is sharing her starburst candy (that she got as a reward from her vending machine bank) with her baby. She is also wearing big girl underwear. She only had one accident on this day. Pretty good way to start out, we thought. We are so proud! Another day of landscaping and our little helper already has her shovel wanting to help. We actually took her Elmo potty outside to make it easily available for her and I'm very proud and happy to say that on day two ---NO ACCIDENTS!!-----HEY!!!!!!!!

Our little girl is growing up

You might just think these are only pictures of our little baby girl playing in the park. That is true but when I see these pictures of Eden, my thoughts are "This is the last day my baby wore a diaper. My little baby is now growing into a little girl."
It was time. I knew it was time a month or two ago but.....she's a baby, she's my baby. The big day was Saturday, July 12th. When I took her diaper off that morning it was as dry as when I had put it on her from the night before and since then she has only had three "overnight" accidents in her pull-up while sleeping. Eden went straight from a diaper to Big girl underwear and she is doing amazing!!! It's been about three weeks now. She wears a pull-up while sleeping and when we leave to go out, but she will do her best not to "go" in her pull-up. I will have to give it to her, because she has had very few accidents in them. But, first thing in the morning and/or as soon as we get home she gets that pull-up off and puts her "panties" back on.
Eden loves the praise, high fives and most of all the rewards for using her Elmo potty. She gets a coin or two after using the potty. She will go straight to her new vending machine bank that we had found at Wal-Mart. The vending machine bank gets filled with M&M's, Skittles, Starbursts, Bubble Gum, Bandages(she loves playing with them), nail polish, PEZ candy, Dora hairbands, etc. We also started another reward system that we call "Pulling from the Pillowcase". This just happens about once a week but Eden loves the surprise of what she might pull out. Even now, three weeks into potty training she is doing so well and I'm also beginning to notice that the praise we give her is enough for her accomplishment. We don't seem to be going to the vending machine every time now. She is our baby! Now, she is our "little" Big girl.

Hard Worker

Here is something you might not know about our little girl-----She loves to help or be involved with everything! She will put down a toy to help you with something and on this warm July day she didn't want to be left out. We have decided to finish a few house projects and then put our house up "For Sale". On this day we started working on our landscaping. How many people could work outside (about) all day with a two year old? We can!! She was so good on this day. When she seen the shovels for Eddie and me to use, she went and got her little shovel and her wagon. We took mini breaks and played in the water to cool down during the day but she always went back to "working". We tell her all the time that she is such a good little helper, now she will say it to us, "I'm a good ole helper" and just give us the big beautiful smile.

Gymnastics

Eden was so excited to wish her Daddy a "Happy Fathers Day" and give him his card and gift. Eddie came home from work sick that weekend. He was probably only out of bed three or four times (15-20 minutes each if that long) on Father's Day, but Eden made sure that he knew it was his special day by going and getting his gift each time and yelling "Haaaaapppppy Father's Day Daddy!!!!" Also, if she heard him coughing (from back in the bedroom) she would yell, "You o.k. Daddy? You need anything Daddy?" To be so young, she has such a huge Heart!!!!!

Eddie feeling lots better a couple days later. Eden (with the help of Momma) made him some peanut butter cookies.

We also dog set little Cloey for a couple of weeks.

County Fair

Eden got some new wheels on Memorial Day. On June 2, 2008 we planted flowers in our flower pots. Eden loves everything about this activity! She was also having fun spraying Daddy with the water hose when he was cutting the yard.

Going on Vacation ---- May 2008

It is always very busy and yes, a little tiring getting prepared to leave on vacation, but more then anything it is EXCITING! We did stop for the night in Valdosta, Georgia on our way down to the beach, but when coming home we drove straight through. Eden is a great little traveler. In the first picture I posted, I gave it the title of " Got Popcorn?" I thought she looked so sweet and funny with that big bag of kettle corn I had made before leaving. We love popcorn at our house!
Mother's Day is so very special to me, how can it not be with the child God has blessed me with! On this Mother's Day we were traveling and my mom (and dad) were with us, so it was a good day!
I love the picture of Eden getting ready for bed. She loved the idea of us sleeping on the sofa bed. She was so excited that first night. Of course she brought some special friends with her to Florida again. Baby, Baby, Big Baby and Seahorse really enjoy their vacation to the beach, especially Seahorse since he/she lives in the sea and was so close to family that was in the ocean. Big Baby isn't in the picture below, she makes to much noise and slept by herself on the table.
Eden was so anxious to get on the beach that first day. I know I keep saying it, but I love taking photographs of her! God is so Good!!

Florida Vacation ---- First part of the week

Eden LOVES the beach and I loved taking these pictures!!! She is such a little character and always has us smiling and laughing! She loves it, knowing that she can make us laugh. She really cracked me up when she (remember, this is a 2yr old talking) told me, "Mommy, I want a surfboard", "When I get big I'm gonna ride surfboard". By the end of the week she was telling us " When I get big I'm gonna shave my knees, wear a bra, potty in the "Big" potty like Mommy and Daddy, sleep in my big girl bed and ride a surfboard." She is so funny! Lets hope she does/learns the potty thing first. Ha Ha!
We did visit the Ponce Inlet Lighthouse one beautiful day. There was also a little play ground area there that Eden & I went to while MeMe & Pappy climbed to the top of the Lighthouse (all 203 steps, I believe). Eddie and I love visiting lighthouses and this was the first one we visited and climbed in 1999. The play area had a good view of the lighthouse, Eden would stop playing at different times look at the top of the lighthouse and ask " Meme & Pappy up there Mommy?" I would answer yes and say, "Wave to them".... she would wave her little hand off while yelling "Hi Meme!, Hi Pappy!, Be Careful Guys!" Before leaving the Lighthouse grounds we were telling Eden to be careful, after playing she climbed a tree with the help of her Pappy.
A few weeks before leaving for the beach I had bought Eden a CD with Beach music on it. I would hear her singing a few words of several of the songs, but the Boardwalk song is the one she would sing the most. I would tell her when we get to Florida we will go to the Boardwalk and even walk under the Boardwalk. She liked that idea and of course I had to have a few pictures of it. I posted one here.

Florida Vacation ---- Last part of the week

Though we all had many highlights on our vacation this was one of the daily highlights for Eden----Pushing the buttons in the elevator. It also helped her to recognize her numbers when we would tell her what floor we needed.. Also, she like wearing the key bracelet to the pool. I will have to say she done very well with this. She always held it the same way, after it was placed on her wrist she would hold on very tight to the key in her hand as you will see in the pictures.
Eden's buddy at the beach was her Pappy. Need I even say that he spoiled her rotten, but that it not any different from any other time. That's what grandparents are for and I'm so glad Eden has grandparents that are CRAZY for her.
We had a beautiful sunny week in Daytona Beach, Florida. Just a great vacation, but we did miss Eddie/Daddy very very much! He worked that week and then he and a few good friends had a bike trip already planned to Bristol, TN (to the racetrack). Even though we spoke on the phone several times daily, Eden still asked about him often and also about Tallie (our dog). She now will say " Next time go to beach-----Daddy, Eden, Mommy------take Tal-dee to Sam and Sa-dee house." (Sam and Sadie are Uncle Kevin's dogs). We are planning a trip to Cape Hatteras, NC in September so I think she understands that we all will be together next time and we can't wait!!!!!

Eden always gets to help me in the kitchen when I'm using the mixer. She loves to help Mommy with whatever! But, she really likes to help hold the mixer. On this night we were making mashed potatoes (She LOVES ANY kind of potato). Of course, she got to "lick" the mixers.
